I vote YES.....!!! But then again, I started the thread, so that's goes with out saying.
I've been doing a bit of research. I definitely think the original filter would be the best. It
is certainly the most unique sound. The following is an exerpt from the Blue-Synth
Website.
"Three versions were released between 1976 and 1981, with many heavy modifications on
the filter chips, oscillators, circuit board designs and features. Every model had their
strengths and weaknesses, mainly centred on the discrete VCO/VCF designs. What was
made up in stability was lost in sound. The first revision SRM employed a SSM2040 (REV-1
Prophet5) filter chip, but this was then later replaced with the SSM2044 (Polysix).
Thankfully the discrete VCO's were still retained. The final revision (SRM-II) had both
Curtis 3340 VCO's and SSM 2044 filters, which meant that the synth was far more stable."

There also a couple of audio examples on the website. They're useful, but I still feel that
these demos lack the gut wrenching possibilities that I've grown to love about this synth.
Unfortunately, the site doesn't specify the original chip design. I'll keep looking, but if
someone knows, please speak up.
Best Wishes,
Andrew Eisele
