You are right. I never thought about this.
The tuning of the DCOs depends finally on the tuning of the two master
clocks, which is set by the two coils L1 and L2. I have never touched
those, so I don't know, how hard or easy it is to get a better tuning.
But as I have now two JX-3P I might try it.
The two board layouts do not affect the sound. Roland changed only
between two pin housing types of the same chip.
