I can see merits in both methods. A manual way to switch which synth the PE is controlling and a CC that allows you to automate that switching.

Another option is a 'catch-all' mode that would allow you to simultaneously control multiple synths using PE controls that are common to most (filter cutoffs, resonance, ADSR, etc). You would just send the appropriate info to the appropriate synth on the appropriate midi channel. That is, unless there's not enough MIDI bandwidth to handle all that information.

It would be cool if the PE setups were user configurable but I definitely understand the can of worms that would open up for bugs or the possibility of bricking the unit.

What other way would you suggest? I could go back to using sysex to address the various synths but it's not very nice and not everything can handle sysex which is why I dropped it. I guess I could make a CC command to select the synth which would change the synth selected on the PE the same as using the menu buttons on the PE. You would still need to have the synths on separate midi channels or eveything would get very confused.
