I am using a MIDI merge box followed by a MIDI thru box for this (you
may use the thru ports at the synths instead, but I prefer having the
overview given by the thru box).

If you have your synths connected constantly to your computer, I'd
recommend to use a multiport MIDI interface, and have the PE at the
input(!) of the computer. The sequencer software usually will merge the
incoming data from the PE with its internal midi tracks.
