I don't have a 600 but wanted to chime in on this point:

For me the PE is less about one knob-per-function control than it is about remote control and a single interface (for hands on control or for automation control from Max for live). I would ideally like to use the PE with every synth possible. Many of my synths are away from my desk, and the PE is great way to not have to move around the room when creating. It also gives me one interface to master, rather than many.
