Hi Rad,
You have to name the patches in Midiquest. The Matrix-1000 does not have patch names. Midiquest will remember them once you name them. I do not believe that Midiquest can change patch numbers in the Matrix-1000. The patch you select will be loaded to teh edit buffer. The best way is build an entire bank and send it to the synth. Then the patches will be where you want them.
Let me know if you're still having issues. I can fire mine up and connect it to my midiquest PC and check things out for you. I also can send you a good sized MQ library already populated with named patches.
