Hey, make a couple of people moderators, set the entrance requirements to
moderated for new users, and that'll do it. You don't have to do everything
yourself, and it'll go a long way to removing spam.
I moderate/own several groups, and it really does work well.
And I'm glad to see you're still around. I've seen too many synth groups
where the owners have gone away, and it's far more than any other category
of groups.
Another benefit to having moderators is that there's someone around to clear
out the bouncing member list from time to time.

Subject: [oberheim] Re: Finding the Owner
hello nicole, i īm the owner of this little group. yes...
i decided to keep this group open for everyone to join up, because it īs
easier for everyone to join and i don īt have the time to check every join
request. everytime when i sign in via yahoo i check for spam, and i ban
those stupid persons and delete the spam messages...
however when anybody thinks it could be done better and want, check every
join request for example, we could do change the ownership if this is
possible. i have no problem with this. in the past, i just wanted to create
a group for oberheim gear, because there were no active groups anymore...
