One thing to try is reversing the polarity (didn't Spock used to say that a lot
). There are
two contacts, one positive, one negative. There is a diode in the 707 which assures that it
can get power in only one direction, so you have two options to try. Also, it is good to
have a meter or some other electronic thing like a motor or such, to make sure that the
wallwart even works at all. Sometimes the windings overheat, or there is a break in the
wire. I'd try bare wire against the pads on the PCB to rule out everything else. Connectors
usually get flaky before anything else.

I got mine at Rat Shack, I'm sure you could order them from Mouser, Jameco, etc. The only
thing to look out for is that the plug and jack need to both be the same size. The PITA is
that they are hard to measure if you already have one and not the other. It doesn't hurt to
get an assortment to try, because if you like old gear you will always find uses for them. If
you go to a store, bring the wallwart and try for the best plug fit you can. If you order
them then I'd suggest just replacing the plug too, one less thing to go wrong.

It takes a lot to kill a 707! I had one that in an impatient fit of stupidity I connected to
some unforgivable wallwart - like 25v at 5 Amps or something ridiculous. My 707 actually
started to *burn*! But after a while I was able to fix it. Make sure you have a working
wallwart and both connectors. Other than that, you might need to replace the 7805, which
is the +5v regulator. If these work then something should go on! LCD, tempo LED.
