Hello;
...sorry being late to this post, (short intro..)
myself found a tr-707 on a yard sale long ago, paid 6
dollars for it and was told it wouldn't turn on. once
at home I replaced the power jack as Ed did. ( it had
a permanently soldered power lead from the wallwart to
the unit) then it didn't turn on at all... :(
later on the same evening and after a pair of cold
beers, I decided to give it a try- DVM on hand and my
oscilloscope on- Dissasembled the unit and I only
cleaned up the black rubber keypad contacts and the
pcb below them carefully with a cotton swab lightly
impregnated in isopropil alcohol ( hic !! ) suddently
the machine started beating my speakers really loud
after putting it back together...
turns out the cpu kind of got 'stuck' and was going
nowhere, I suspect some of the switches were 'shorted'
somehow and I 'dehosed' the cpu. In the end I was
really happy 'cause it did cost me less than $10.00
total and was very functional. I didn't use my
equipment at all that evening. I haven't had a
chance lately to use it simply because I have no idea
how (shame on me...) is just that I'm just a dumb
tech... not a musician yet... ( thanks to Dr Moog...
Rest In Peace).
I hope You don't have to scavenge your unit just
yet. sounds to me you might want to spend a few bucks
on swabs and iso-propil alcohol...
good luck with that !!!!
