that's really wierd thing about your a106-1.
this filter CAN sound as a normal(ms20 type) filter.
if you do NOT use the two clipping knobs, the rest of
the module behaves as a normal filter with an ms20
style sound, of course,.
maybe you a106 is, indeed, broken
