I got to play around with MQ and my Matrix-1000 today. I got lost in the punchy sound this synth has and jammed with it most of the day.
I can't get patch names from MQ even if I use MQ to send patches with names to it. However the same is true using SoundDiver, JSynthLib, or MatrixEd for editors.
> and they're all named "BNK0:00" through "BNK0:99."
Opening the editor in MQ sends the patch to the synth but does not change the number displayed.
I found the sysex implementation chart for the Matrix-6 and the first 7 bytes after the header should be the patch names. The data is in 6 bit ASCII form so I can't tell what it should be if there was a name there. Can anyone tell me how to read this from the sysex file. I did try denibblizing it to 134 bytes and still can't figure it out. Since I don't have a Matrix-6 I would like to see an actual dump from a bank that has patch names.
I'm now convinced your Matrix-1000 works just like mine... Fran

That gray window with the midi ports listed and progress bar at the bottom pops up, and it works for a little while, until it completes and gets the bank ("bytes received" for a Matrix1000 bank are about 27-28000).

If I change the preset manually (from the front panel), then all of the sounds in MQ become the preset that I changed to. If I press the button to show the patch's settings (edit window) in MQ, I can plainly see that they are all unique, so we know that MQ is receiving unique patch data.

I hope I have explained this well. Let me know your thoughts.

I know this is a "duh" question but a dead battery can wipe these out. It seems like MQ would get jibberish for patches though. Can MQ play audition notes from the program
