Okay, here's an update to this problem. When I received the drum machine, the volume slider was missing. My friend said that another guy repaired it long ago. The slider had worn out, and it was replaced by two jumpers and two 47k resistors. It worked that way for several years, and then the volume on the stereo outputs and headphone out became very low. I don't know if it was gradual or sudden (I should've asked). The volume on each individual output is just fine. Another problem arose after this happened. In pattern play mode, the start and stop/cont buttons work intermittently. You can step or tap record, and they work. In pattern play mode, when you press the start button, it plays a few notes and then stops. The stop/cont button will get it going again, but then that stops working after a few times.
I've tried to address the volume issue by replacing the IC206 op amp (as suggested), replacing electrolytic caps in the circuit path, replacing other op amps near the outputs (I bought ten of the same op amp.....what the hell) replacing various electrolytic caps near the outputs, and I switched out the actual jack with the jack from my working 707....I even replaced the D1469 transistors near the outputs....nothing has worked so far.
As far as the starting and stopping issue, I cleaned the contacts and that didn't help. I'm assuming that it's either a failed diode (or diodes) or a bad chip
I wouldn't think that it was the resistor array....do those ever go bad
Anyways....thanks for the help so far. If anyone has any insight into this problem, I'd like to know.
